Dawkins: natural selection not God, why select consciousness?
By
–
I don’t mean God literally, I mean natural selection. Dawkins’ point is that if an intelligence can be as competent as Claude without being conscious, why (and how) would nature select for consciousness in humans?

State Systems vs. Ivies: Economic Mobility in Education
By

We know the answer: Cal State LA, followed by Pace & SUNY. State systems in California, Texas & New York are great for moving many born in the lower 20% of income to the top 20%; Ivies for moving a few from the bottom to the top 1%. https://

Using Model Failure Modes as Fine-Tuning Data in CV

Part 2 🧊
— Satya Mallick (@LearnOpenCV) 5 mai 2026
In Part 1: accuracy is a trap.
In Part 2: failure modes ARE your fine-tuning dataset.
Probe the public model → collect data on exactly what it breaks on → fine-tune → repeat.
That's the loop most CV teams skip.

Attributing LLM deficits to lack of functional consciousness
By
–
There are of course are deficits in LLMs but which do you attribute specifically to a lack of functional consciousness? E.g. I wouldn’t expect a lack of consciousness to make LLMs bad at calculation but great at language translation.
