Even the CEO of Vercel is impressed/shocked by the exceptional performance of GLM-5.2 in coding. open source, open weights.

Kurzweil’s AGI predictions mixed with flawed connectome immortality
By
–
Kurzweil mixed bold but solid predictions (given enough compute, a neocognitron like architecture can achieve AGI before 2030) with dogshit (digitizing the connectome is a near term way to human immortality). But both looked like the same kind of scifi to non experts.

AI industry on X discusses GLM and Hermes, lacks diverse voices
By
–
The AI industry on X loves to talk about technology. This weekend’s hot tech is GLM, an AI Open Source model. Previous weekends saw a ton of discussion about how @NousResearch
’ Hermes was better than @openclaw
. One problem with X is that we don't hear enough from people -
Stop hardware cost to token calculations, models improve, prices rise

Can we stop doing hardware cost to token generation calculations on the timeline please? If you haven't noticed, models keep getting better & more efficient, and hardware prices keep going up

Generative media break visual Turing test: hope for truce

Sigh. Unfortunately, it will only get worse as generative media shatter the visual Turing test. I hope that internal quarrels between traditional and neural computer graphics will cease.

ColBERT outperforms on CPU with low latency for embeddings
By
–
I'm talking about individual descriptions used for embeddings. It doesn't need to be particularly long for late interaction to perform better. The tradeoff really depends on the use case. In this case, even on a cheap CPU, the latency is so low that ColBERT just works better!

PixelRAG skips OCR by embedding screenshots directly into vectors
By
–
True if you round-trip through OCR to markdown, that's where the token cost piles up. But PixelRAG skips that. The screenshot gets embedded straight into a vector for retrieval, no image to text step in the pipeline. The VLM only reads pixels at the end, on the few tiles it

Don’t just add AI button, rebuild projects AI-first, e.g. hotelist

I normally don't like plugging on an AI chat into my projects, because it's seems too easy and basic

I think you should instead rebuild entire projects from the ground up to be AI first, not just add some AI button

GPT-5.6: a great positive surprise ahead
By

I have the feeling that GPT-5.6 will be a great positive surprise. Let us recall the information about GPT-5.6: "The company is separately preparing to launch a new AI model, codenamed 5.6, which will represent a 'significant improvement' over the flagship"
