"Beyond what humans or computers can do alone" is exactly the right framing. Not replacement, collaboration.

AI Adoption Could Enable 4-6 Hour Work Days
By
–
People spend roughly 10/hours working 5 days a week. [8 hours at work, 2 hours in traffic; this is the norm across most major cities] As AI gets adopted: governments can reform labour laws. Institute 4-6 hour/work days. Allow people more time with their families. I am not

Platforms monetize attention hijacking and paid solutions equally
By

Platforms charge companies to hijack our attention, then charge us to reclaim it.
A very elegant way to monetize both the problem and the fake solution. YouTube perfected the art of monetizing both the interruption and the escape. #AI #Advertising #AttentionEconomy -
Gemini worse than Bard; Sydney’s anthropomorphism sin and personality lesson
By
–
From this perspective, Gemini is also worse than the original Bard. Sydney was the original sin of LLMs anthropormism, but also got the idea that AIs can sometimes be better with personalities right. Even if that personality was unhinged.

Meta’s Muse Spark impresses with vision capabilities and free access
By
–
people are finding all the cool things we built into muse spark 🙂 Deedy (@deedydas) The coolest thing Meta AI's Muse Spark can do by far is counting objects! As you can tell, it's far from perfect. They call it "visual grounding" and it can count objects and do bounding boxes. I've been playing with the new model and here's what I think so far: Good stuff: – Incredible at vision. It's ability to read text in images is the best I've seen. – Really high quality at web design. It's the only model I've seen that uses Unsplash, OpenLibrary and other images by default. – It's free! You don't pay to use Muse Spark Thinking. Bad stuff: – Meta's classic playbook of growth tactics are dodgy. They're sending Instagram notifs to people's friends without their consent. Their app ranking jump is not organic. – Reasoning itself is pretty solid but not best in class. It can do pretty advanced math and science problems. The long term threat here is Meta has distribution and has the ability to give their model away for free, which makes them a formidable threat to the big AI labs, particularly in consumer. — https://nitter.net/deedydas/status/2043127931405529474#m

MiniMax M2.7 Open Source Release Criticized for Restrictive License
By
–

Grateful Minimax M2.7 weights are out, but their 6hr-before-release license edit makes the model nearly unusable. A lame non-commercial limitation so broadly defined that you're essentially only allowed to use it for projects given out for free, else need to be granted permission from @MiniMax_AI. MiniMax (official) (@MiniMax_AI) We're delighted to announce that MiniMax M2.7 is now officially open source. With SOTA performance in SWE-Pro (56.22%) and Terminal Bench 2 (57.0%). You can find it on Hugging Face now. Enjoy!🤗 huggingface:huggingface.co/MiniMaxAI/Min… Blog: minimax.io/news/minimax-m27-… MiniMax API: platform.minimax.io/ — https://nitter.net/MiniMax_AI/status/2043132047397659000#m
