Data Augmentation Techniques for Texture-based Model Training
By
–
Since it's a domain-specific dataset, and in particular textures, you can do many augmentations to get more out of it… Training at 256×256, that's approximately 27,6k unique patches and with flip/rot augmentations about 221k! (Training random patches works even better.)

Texture Datasets Updated for Generative AI Training

I updated my textures datasets, both Natural Ground pack and Urban Surfaces pack. There are now 17 and 16 sets in each one respectively for a total of 432 images at 4K cc-by-sa-nc. Fun for training domain-specific generators! https://

Semantic search fails at scale beyond toy examples and familiar data
By
–
ive been trying to make semantic search work on 150k documents for a while. what ive found so far is that it doesnt work. it only works for toy examples, very small datasets and data which the LLM has more or less already seen and that's why it answers well from it.

NCD vs Cosine Distance for Vector Comparison
By
–
Nice one thanks for sharing. Looks like a really nice write-up. I remember running the NCD on count vectors, but then I thought cosine distance is even simpler. Intuitively, I'd say they should capture about the same thing.
