LLMs are like Fabs Whoever controls the 'fabs' controls the margins. Just like TSMC. Google owns their TPU fabs. Everyone else rents NVIDIA's. The compute supply chain is the new app store tax.

LLMs as Utilities: AI Infrastructure as the Real Value Layer
By
–
LLMs are like Utilities AI is electricity. When the grid goes down, intelligence 'brownouts.' Just like when OpenAI crashes and half the internet stops working. The AI infrastructure layer is where the real value will be captured as @JesseTinsley keeps telling me.

It cleans everything up and outputs ultra-clean 1080p in a single pass. ByteDance just released the code. It might be the best video upscaler available today—and it runs locally.

Open Source Strategy as Path to AGI Talent Attraction
By
–
If you assume the models will go closed source as soon as they get AGI-ish, then it makes more sense (you attract more talent, prestige, and free research going open source in the meantime).

Why Big Tech Invests Billions in Open Source LLMs
By
–
I've done academic research on open source & I am confused about the case for firms spending billions making open LLMs. In most open source, companies gain ecosystem benefits: people build on their platform, they sell ancillary services, etc. Doesn't work for LLMs at that cost.
