This should be a juicy business school case study someday: Oracle’s financial profile as a business is totally changing but its stock valuation is still being treated by the Street as if it’s just a database software vendor. As Oracle goes deeper and deeper into sunk capital investment, and deeper in debt, the valuation has to go lower. New CFO for Oracle, brace for a new valuation Hilary Maxson is joining Oracle as CFO after nine years helping to run a company with a very different financial profile, Schneider Electric. The lower margin of Schneider is probably an accurate indicator of where Oracle is headed as a business as it takes on more and more debt to build a cloud AI empire. That business should be valued a lot less than Oracle’s traditional valuation — more like that of Schneider, in fact. thetechnologyletter.com $ORCL

Google had the foresight to develop TPUs back in 2012. Today, they have by far the most compute. In the long term, Google is in one of the best starting positions: a solid revenue and product base, compute, and above all: distribution. Epoch AI (@EpochAIResearch) We estimate that over 60% of global AI compute is owned by the top US hyperscalers, led by Google with the equivalent of roughly 5 million Nvidia H100 GPUs! Unlike the other hyperscalers, which rely primarily on Nvidia, Google’s fleet is dominated by its custom TPU chips. — https://nitter.net/EpochAIResearch/status/2041241217334419851#m

"We announced the single largest raise in history, $122 billion, and at the core of that was the validation of our laser-focused strategy, which is on compute… It drives a flywheel – for every quantum of compute we get, we effectively get 3X in revenue." bloomberg.com/news/videos/20…
