I already see people dismissing information they don’t like as “AI generated.” AI content will not create echo chambers where people reject things that they don’t believe. But it will clearly supercharge that already dangerous trend; giving even more excuses for not listening.

Most of the oldest companies are breweries, banks, or quasi-governmental, but I would like to see more about firms that have been technological leaders for over a century. Like ZEISS was a leader in optics since 1843, and makes the UEV Bragg reflectors for ASML machines today.

I am missing context, it looks like the 2nd phase of the ideation GPT, which is the most grounded, since it involves web search. There are six steps, so you may want to wait until the end. In any case, AI is good at recombinant novelty and idea fluency, not all forms of novelty.

I had Code Interpreter, but it went away. I can open other people's GPTs, but I can't make my own. And behavior differs depending on which account I am signed into in ways I don't quite get. Also it makes songs if you flip the right switch. And there is a neat notebook feature.

Microsoft's implementation of GPT-4 remains powerful and confusing. Some people (but not all) have access to some mix of plugins, GPTs, and Code Interpreter, but you have to go to the Web Copilot, not the Windows, Work, or Office Copilots. And you have to select the purple mode.

A good test for very high machine intelligence would be the ability to create satisfying puzzles that are coherent, thematic, and appropriate for the level of the solver. I know some amazing puzzle designers, their work takes lots of effort and testing. Can AI eventually do it?

I think an interesting test of LLMs is their ability to engage in coherent puzzle creation. I asked Claude 3 and GPT-4 to create a complex puzzle for a D&D game. They both get very close, but get lost in the complexity, creating puzzles that are almost, but not quite, solvable.

Now would be the time for archivists and librarians to begin separating out post-2022 written and visual work from what was produced before. As I saw once on Twitter, "this is the K-T boundary of information." Anything afterwards is increasingly unlikely to be made by humans.
