Huge thanks for @IEEESpectrum’s interview discussing my thoughts on the Agentic Web — a new era where AI agents will reshape how the Internet works. 🌐🤖 Today’s web is built for humans — full interfaces we click through. But agents don’t have to think, see, or act like us. They can process vast information instantly, plan, reason, negotiate, and transact on our behalf. In the agentic web, your personal AI agent could directly collaborate with another site’s agent — understanding your intent, filtering massive data, and completing complex tasks autonomously. This shift will require a ground-up redesign: – New open protocols for agent-to-agent communication (like MCP, A2A) – Systems for secure agent identity, payments, and orchestration – Secure-by-design frameworks to protect privacy, safety, and trust The benefits are enormous — efficiency, productivity, new economic models — but the security risks are unprecedented. Agents act with autonomy and high privilege. We must guard against misuse, data leaks, and system-level vulnerabilities. Our goal is to build a safe, open, and trustworthy agentic web, where humans and agents collaborate seamlessly rather than replace one another. Much work remains, but this is the future we’re building — together. 🌐✨ Read more in my @IEEESpectrum interview: spectrum.ieee.org/agentic-we…
