It also said it was acquiring MosaicML for $1.3 billion, giving it another piece of the new NEW data stack—building and serving ML models from scratch. The explosion of LLMs, it seems, is as good a time as any to re-re-bundle the data stack.

… died AGAIN and Nvidia is again shipping me a replacement unit. First was a cooling pump, then an NVLINK failure, now a CPU overheat. Good service, but a lemon of a $150k product.

In nearly every industry we go through the same process: bundling, then un-bundling, then re-bundling that un-bundling, then all over again. The modern data stack created an enormously fragmented network to manage new data use cases. Now Databricks is looking to re-bundle it.
