I've been hearing Bard is getting better and better. I haven't played with it recently. Sounds like it's time to dig in again! A recent test showed that it performed better than GPT-4 (but not better than GPT-4 Turbo).

Gemini’s Rise to #1 Through Optimization and the Borg Collective
By
–
It’s only a matter of time when the power of Borg gets Gemini to the #1 spot. Once an objective function (even human evaluation) is established, it can be optimized for by the great machine. Resistance is futile

LLM Evaluation Methods and Gemini Pro Performance on LMSYS
By
–
Evaluation of LLMs is very hard and nuanced (especially academic evals which are leaked massively). Evals that rely on human judgement are far superior, so it feels good that Bard Gemini Pro (free tier) climbed pretty high on lmsys Looking forward to Gemini Ultra release!

No precise timeline on getting it out of preview, but you can absolutely use it in production. In fact, over 70% of requests from GPT-4 API customers have already transitioned to GPT-4 Turbo!

Social Product Value Propositions: Complexity Over Simplicity

I disagree. What's the simple value prop of github, facebook, slack? All sticky social product are complex with a value-prop that is difficult to articulate/non-obvious for most people.

Bounded Search Space Limits Competitive Moat in AI Hardware
By
–
the models are homogeneous, the hardware SKUs are homogeneous, so the overall perf tuning/search space is relatively small. So, the bounded search makes it less moaty — competitors are also searching within the same bounded space.
I cover more on this in my upcoming Latent Space
