I think arXiv is great for both types of work: no reason not to! The challenge is that we currently attach more rewards to work that is also in a conference: in hiring, plus more visibility, citations, etc. Should we reward one type of work much more than the other?

#Galactica demo, with the proper disclaimers, is a net positive. It shouldn't be used for scientific writing yet, but it is an imperfect step in the right direction. Tesla FSD with a proper disclaimer is great too. What I don't like about it is the name "Autopilot."
