The mental model of many folks about how AI works is that it each model a single entity, like a person. So, for example, privacy is a concern because if GPT-4 sees something from someone in one conversation, it will know it everywhere. Subtly different than actual privacy issue.

API Base Models Fine-tuning and Guardrail Instructions
By

As far as I know, you are not getting the base model through APIs, there is definitely fine-tuning and many guardrail instructions that are likely the result of prompting. Refusals to mess with copyright work, for example.

Why Humans Prefer Anthropomorphic AI Over Formal Assistants
By

It is similar to how Sydney/Bing caused a huge stir. We are very much more freaked out and impressed by an AI that is allowed to act human than one that insists it is just an assistant.

Inflection AI clarifies Pi’s response to Claude comparison allegations
By
–

Pi’s responses are always generated by our own models, built in-house. On investigation, it appears the user prompted this particular response from Pi after copy-pasting the output from Claude earlier in the conversation with Pi. Pi differs from other products, like Claude and ChatGPT, in that it remembers the main conversation even in threads. In this case, Pi reproduced the relevant message because it was included in its conversational memory. seshu bonam (@seshubon) WHAT? @inflectionAI is just a claude-3-sonnet wrapper? care to explain? 🐒 Produces the exact same answer word to word for a custom query i asked 🤯 Community note: Context is shared across conversations with Pi. The user had previously copied Claude's response to Pi in another thread. When asked the same question, Pi simply recited Claude's answer from that thread. twitter.com/inflectionAI/s… — https://nitter.net/seshubon/status/1765870717844050221#m

GPT-4 Benchmark Bias: Circular Evaluation Problem

I could not agree more, to the point that I have lost trust in most of these benchmarks. Plus, if GPT-4 is used to run the evals, isn't that an inherent bias of the system?
