I know. I did the consumer research for the auto industry. One guy in Kansas told me "I'm a narcissistic control freak and there's no way a computer is gonna drive me around." Meanwhile Waymo rides are going up every month. Come to San Francisco and you will discover a better

I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken. — https://nitter.net/NateSilver538/status/2040909183525048638#m

Human Analysis Beats Automated AI Stock Market Information
By
–
Human not AI stock analysis All the major information providers such as FactSet and the rest now have these automated forms of stock information. They basically give you the same headlines you find all over the place. They don’t give you much more than the headline, and I’ve found they even miss the most important headlines on a daily or weekly basis concerning a given stock. The details about a company tend to be the same clumps of publicly-available financial data, without any sense of whether it means anything, without any context relative to other companies. The bolt-on AI stuff is basically turning out to be not very valuable. If you want to get good stock market analysis, stick with people not automatically-generated garbage.

Business Leaders Spreading AI Misinformation, Economic Bubble Risk
By
–
This quote from @EricRWeinstein — “ our business people become our designed public thinkers by default” — looms heavily now, as business people with enormous economic interests busy themselves redefining and opining on terms like “AGI” and “superintelligence”. Their lies and distortions around the alleged imminence of these things are likely to cause a crippling blow to the world’s economy. And the business media’s common “A CEO said a thing” journalistic style, in which they parrot absurd claims—without serious skepticism—is only exacerbating all this When the bubble pops, and taxpayers are forced to bail out this mess, the cultlike adoration of business people who know little about how intelligence actually works will have been a major factor. Gary Marcus (@GaryMarcus) Allowing “our business people become our designated public thinkers [b]y default” has indeed been an absolute catastrophe. — https://nitter.net/GaryMarcus/status/2028859980896751660#m
