Sorry if my point didn't come across. I didn't mean that they were all in on it, but that it was actually beneficial for them to do it. We can't expect people to act against their interests, but we should be more skeptical and cautious about shiny new things.

We can brush it off and say it's just an Internet phenomenon. It would be fine if it didn't overshadow good releases made by teams like @deepseek_ai that care about science. Instead, we're incentivizing everyone to out-shout each other with clickbait.

It's a "don't hate the player, hate the game" kind of situation. Influencers are rewarded for spreading misinformation. We shouldn't blame individuals. Anyone can get fooled. However, we need to hold them accountable. Without penalties, the system is designed to spread scams.
