My request is simply that @geoffreyhinton and others advocating for regulation directly and rigorously tackle the question of whether their advocacy is helpful, or harmful, in terms of its impact on existential risk.

Do you think advocating for strong regulation makes human extinction more likely, or less likely? This is something I've never seen any advocate of this path tackle with any rigor whatsoever. -
