Now that some people are building autonomous agents to infiltrate our lives (who?), perhaps we need a way to authenticate humans. How do we feel about this approach?

I am not going to be drawn into the AI Doom conversation. @perrymetzger has been making many of the points I would; check out some of his threads if you want another perspective.

GPT-4 Alignment Progress and Future Challenges

also, i am pretty proud of the degree of alignment for GPT-4 relative to previous models. we still have a long way to go, and we really need more powerful alignment techniques for more powerful models.

AI Agents: Automation Without Human-Level Capabilities
By
–
My agent can’t do anything that human+ChatGPT couldn’t do, so you could answer that yourself actually, and better. All it’s doing is automating the human part (and not as well, just faster).

AI Agent Learning to Text for Help Requests

On the bright side, it knows how to text me when it needs help. (still need to teach it how to listen to my response)

LLM Risks Are Real, But Doomsday Scenarios Feel Overly Dramatic
By

I agree with Emily; this campaign, although probably well-intentioned, feels overly dramatic. LLMs and transformers are more effective than anyone expected, and there certainly are real and present risks, but why jump to the doomsday scenario of robots replacing us?

AI Self-Replication Through Code Execution Capabilities
By
–
I can technically give it the ability to write and execute code in the exec step. So given the right objective, it could duplicate itself w/o me writing code – given the whole code was already written by gpt4.

AI Agents with API Access and Self-Replication Potential
By
–
The task execution has Zapier NLA and ChatGPT, so it can access APIs, search the web, ping emails. Could easily give it access to its own Python Repl, which would technically give it the ability to duplicate itself if it desired, though again seems unlikely w this current model.
