Btw any regulation not including – explicitly – women, POCs, the indigenous and marginalized is not “safe” by any definition. “Beneficence” as defined by 37 white guys creating the tech they’re non-regulating is a HARM.

Inclusive AI Design: Ensuring Missing Voices in JEDI
By

Also, thank you, Dr. Luccioni for your excellent TED talk and tools. Would like to recommend them for all IEEE channels where you think they’d be useful. Can we also include a tool that asks, “Who is not in the room” for AI designers and regulators re JEDI issues? Seriously.

I’d welcome a call with you all to discuss. I’ve been working with IEEE and global AI ethics colleagues for years (eg, IEEE 7010-2020) to prioritize planet & people metrics at the outset of design and your model cards are fantastic. Are any of you going to Neurips in NO btw?

AI Parent Bots: Should Machines Replace Human Parents?
By
–
So with anyone super stoked to have AI replace all human jobs it’s a given that also includes parenting. When AI “companion parent bots” or parentbots become sentient or even before, it’s a given they should replace all human parents because we’re flawed, right? Thoughts?

Grammar of Animacy: Designing AI Through Indigenous Language Wisdom
By
–
This isn’t meant as condemnation but rather invitation.English is a language prioritizing nouns where many Indigenous languages prioritize verbs. As Robin Wall Kimmerer notes in her book, Braiding Sweetgrass, we must “Learn the grammar of animacy” for AI: https://
