In this particular case I think the group that matters most isn't the majority of end-users, it's the much smaller group of people who produce the majority of the content – and who really will think hard about what platform they trust most not to rug-pull them in the future

I ignored Mastodon for 6 years because I knew that decentralized social networks could never be as low friction and easy to use as something like Twitter … but they also can't be bought by a billionaire narcissist, and it turns out that might be the feature that matters most!
