Generative AI Creative Opportunities and Risks Need Diverse Voices
By
–
“There are profound creative opportunities that can come from [generative AI]. But they also pose profound risks. Most importantly, the conversation right now is missing critical voices from musicians, cultural representatives & ethicists to name just a few,” says @chrisdonahuey

AI Safety Summit: Balancing Risks and Beneficial Opportunities
By
–
Ahead of the AI Safety Summit, I spoke with the @guardian about why we need to take the risks of AI seriously while not losing sight of the incredible beneficial opportunities

International Panel on AI Safety Proposed by Tech Leaders

Tech companies moved too late with social media. this time around, we need to get ahead. @ericschmidt and I are proposing an International Panel on AI Safety. Thanks for having me on to discuss, @SquawkCNBC @andrewrsorkin

Designing AI Intrinsic Objectives to Prevent Sociopathic Behavior
By
–
You are right.
You can't control if a human is a sociopath.
But we can make sure an AI system won't be a sociopath because we get to design their intrinsic objectives. -
Designing AI Systems Without Sociopathic Traits
By
–
There are quite a few sociopaths in society.
Most of them aren't smart enough to take physics classes at MIT.
But history shows that the can get elected to the US presidency. We simply won't build AI sociopaths. Unlike with humans, we get to *design* AI systems intrinsic -
AI Alignment Easier Than Aligning Humans Through Design
By
–
No.
But I'm arguing that
a) we are familiar with the concept of aligning intelligent entities, whether they are children, adults, or corporations (which are super-human).
b) it is *much* easier to align AI than humans because we get to *design* the intrinsic motivations of AI -
Designing AI Objectives: Alignment Challenge vs Human Nature
By
–
You are right.
AI systems are much easier to align because we get to *design* their intrinsic objectives.
We don't get to do this with humans. We only get to modify objectives slightly through education. -
Designing AI Intrinsic Objectives for Common Good Alignment
By
–
Kids have human nature and drives hardwired in their intrinsic objectives. With education, we can merely modify these objectives slightly.
For AI systems, we get to *design* their intrinsic objectives. This makes it *much* easier to align AI to the Common Good than it is to align -
Superintelligent Sociopaths: Existential Risk Assessment
By
–
– The proportion of sociopaths in society is way larger than 1 in a few million.
– If society is robust to sociopaths, why can't it be robust to artificial sociopaths?
– What makes you think that we will actually build super-intelligent sociopaths?
– We have super-intelligent
