Audiobooks work fine but non-deterministic algorithms generating new storylines in line w/prompts I think require real thought before presenting to kids unfiltered. Plus, there's a lot more to a good story than a favourite character and a generic plotline. (I'm obviously biased!)

AI-Generated Stories for Children: Quality and Ethical Concerns
By
–
Do we want dozens of stories about the Gruffalo, on-demand? Who is checking if they are good stories if they are being made up in real time? Isn't part of reading/storytelling about time with a child during an important part of their day (bedtime)? I have many questions!

AI-Generated Bedtime Stories for Children: Ethical Concerns
By
–
Can we agree we don't want AI making up/telling bedtime stories to children, using generated voices? Or am I in the minority on this, which is why we constantly see this held up as an eg/demo of a cool application?

Low-cost 3D-printed hardware enables safe hands-on learning
By

you pay it in reliability/strength but a thing i really love about low-cost 3d-printed hardware is how it can be so harmless by design (plastic made with low-cost motors). kids can just play and experiment with it without risks/supervision and that’s such an amazing way to learn pic.twitter.com/L4oqjCoB1t

OpenAI Pauses Sky Voice Over Scarlett Johansson Similarity Concerns
By
–
TL;DR: Following the GPT-4o demo, it's clear that the voice of Sky (one of the available voices) resembles Scarlett Johansson, something that's even more evident with the system's similarity to the one in the movie Her. Today OpenAI [has paused] for the use of this voice,
