My support of the OpenAI board is confusing a lot of people (understandably!) so let me clarify: I don't personally believe in OpenAI's mission. But I still support the board's decision to re-focus on it, because I think that's what boards should do.

Yes that's fair – although if I were a board member I wouldn't go against the company charter in the hope that a court might later decide it was actually OK to do so. In fact I wouldn't join a board where I disagreed with the charter.
