Maybe someone at Meta Research could be tasked with building an open source alternative? It would surely give Meta Research more prominence, containing many strong researchers and thus being near the top of the list.

A valid complaint. Someone should consider building a CSIndustryrankings. Likely someone from Google, which would probably be on top of such a ranking. But release it with a more restrictive license so we could make a CSRankings equivalent that is receptive to the community 🙂
