IIRC, when it first came out i saw some people trying to compare it with chatgpt. flan-ul2 is not a chatbot, folks who already use it know where it's true value lies. some ppl be lik going to supermarket, buying raw chicken breast, eating it and complaining it's not KFC .

RLHF sacrifices in-context learning for ease of prompting. Model is more capable in an informal, less quantifiable sense. Some contrived tasks are nearly impossible without tuning though e.g. summarizing text that’s close in length to the size of the context window.

There are many robotics labs exploring spatial transformers and even diffusion policies for learning from such demonstrations. Dimensionality & substantial uncertainty in state/control make robotics much harder than language or images but I’m much more optimistic post #ChatGPT4 https://
