Axelera AI Community Showcases Innovative Offline-First Smart Space Applications
By
–
We asked the Axelera AI community to embed intelligence into the places they live, work, and play. They came back with gesture-controlled smart homes that feel like something out of Iron Man. Privacy-first activity sensors running 24/7 with zero video leaving the device. Security systems that catch intruders crawling under blankets. On-device physiotherapy assistants. AI-powered book cataloguers for libraries. Healthcare robots with clinical partners already lined up. Amazing AI applications, each offering different takes on what "smarter spaces" means. All running on Metis hardware with the Voyager SDK, all offline-first, and all built and documented openly by our awesome community members. We've picked our winners. Go see who made the podium and check out what every team built, and join us in congratulating everyone who entered: eu1.hubs.ly/H0sPFPZ0 And if this has you thinking about what you'd build with Metis, our Demo Jam is live right now. Share something cool you've made, and you could win a 4 Quad-Core Metis PCIe Card! Details on the community.

Orca… pic.twitter.com/LEUkM8hVDyThis robotic hand can be 3D printed by anyone and assembled in under 8 hours. Researchers at ETH Zurich created the Orca hand, fully open-sourced with artificial bones and tendons. For context, advanced robotic hands cost over $100,000 and require constant maintenance… Orca costs under $2,000. 50x less (!) A self-calibration system maps every motor to every joint, eliminating the manual tuning that tendon-driven hands usually need. Each fingertip has built-in tactile sensors covered by silicone skin. The hand can actually feel when it touches something, giving it feedback to grip objects without crushing them or letting them slip. It can hold over 20 lbs, learn tasks by watching human demonstrations, and transfer skills trained in simulation directly to the real world. The team proved its durability by having it pick up and place a cube over 2,000 times across 7 hours with no human intervention. The full design files and source code are open source, so any robotics lab in the world can start building one today.

AI Infrastructure: From Side Project to Business Core
By
–
What’s changed is simple but profound: AI is no longer a side project.
It’s reshaping every aspect of how businesses operate. And that requires infrastructure built for AI, not retrofitted for it. I break this down in detail in my new video with @Cisco

Unified AI Stack: From Experiment to Enterprise Operation
By
–
The other big shift? Owning and unifying the entire stack. Enterprises don’t need another science experiment.
They need the easy button to operationalize AI. That means: → Silicon
→ Optics
→ Systems
→ Orchestration layers Working as one cohesive platform, not stitched
