Gemini Advanced falls short vs GPT-4 in usefulness and image handling
By
–
Gemini Advanced (Gemini Ultra 1.0) is nowhere near as useful as GPT-4. Just some first impressions: Cons:
-randomly refuses to interpret images
-says cannot interpret images “containing people”
-any controversial question involving politics gives the same canned response -

Responsible AI Must Prioritize Environmental Protection First
By
–
Where companies also know the CSRD/SEC or other environmental regulations won’t come into full effect for 3-4 years they’ll use as much water as they want knowing at best they’ll get a rounding error fine. We must define responsible AI as showing the planet is protected FIRST.

Data Centers Hide Water Usage Behind Corporate IP Claims
By
–
There are also reports from the AP showing companies owning data centers aren’t providing data to local communities on water they’re using quoting that info is corporate IP. Obviously this is deadly and ludicrous and irresponsible short-termism.

Data Centers’ Water Crisis: Only 39% Report Usage
By
–
It’s beyond irresponsible – it’s knowingly harmful based on data centers not reporting water usage. A 2022 @uptime report showed only 39% of data centers report water usage. But centers are being placed many times in known water scarce areas (droughts / aquifer depletion).

Discussion on C2PA Metadata and AI Content Labeling

The watermarks – I assume should be the same c2pa metadata which can be removed from the image. As those images might get labelled as AI generated by major platforms

Critique of spontaneous behavior explanation as rudeness threshold tuning
By
–
I don’t buy that this is “spontaneous” behavior not seen in training. A simpler explanation is it was tuned to refuse some extremely rude requests, but it isn’t sure what that threshold for rudeness is.
