When first released this morning the letter from OpenAI staff was signed by a little under 500 people including, remarkably, Ilya Sutskever, the company’s chief scientist and the board member who told Altman he was fired on Friday.

Unpopular and controversial opinion: I think this was a roundabout stunt by the open ai leadership to get out of something (a governance structure they didn't like, a world they created that they didn't like, whatever).. The fact the Ilya signed a letter wanting to quit and join
