Anthropic and OpenAI: Decoding Strategic AI Model Names
By
–
At face value, the claim sounds like a safety warning. It also seems to signal something unusually capable, consequential and maybe beyond what rivals have. It’s hard not to notice the names @AnthropicAI and @OpenAI are using:

Anthropic Mythos Sets New AI Competition Bar for OpenAI
By
–
Now that @AnthropicAI has introduced Mythos, the bar is set for @OpenAI and “Spud.” In today's @BigTechnology newsletter, @Kantrowitz look at what comes next. We also ask series of questions — like whether “too dangerous” is a new trend that's part warning & part marketing.

AI System Consistency and Context Complexity Trade-offs
By
–
Thanks for the clarification! Your analogy about saving the stranger vs saving the dog makes a lot of sense. This is my non-expert POV, but I’ve been wondering if agentic behavior becomes less consistent as systems become more complex and are given more context. And does that

Massive cuts to basic science funding threaten American scientific leadership
By

Basic science funding to be cut by more than half. No funding of any social sciences including economics. This is a gift to China, and an extinction level event for American science. quant (@quant_____) Wow — https://nitter.net/quant_____/status/2040254351956988134#m

TBPN reconsiders acquisition stance with OpenAI’s increased funding
By
–
But I can't help recalling a 2025 story in WSJ by @DollyDeighton, where TBPN said it had no interest in fundraising or getting acquired. But if it was a good offer & they keep editorial independence, selling makes sense — especially if OpenAI now has $122 billion more to burn!

Media Deal Raises Questions About Competition and Guest Booking
By
–
Fascinating media deal. Seems like it would present an immediate problem with guest booking and advertising – if you compete with OpenAI, why would you boost a competitor… Dylan Abruscato (@DylanAbruscato) TBPN will remain an independent platform for founders to share news, launch products, and interact with the most engaged audience in tech. We’ll maintain full editorial control while working with OpenAI to scale the show’s reach and production. See you at 11a PT, every weekday. — https://nitter.net/DylanAbruscato/status/2039758338519667169#m
