Deep Think Sparks Unicorn: Unexpected AI Drawing Abilities
By
–
Here is the Deep Think "Sparks unicorn" (This is created using TikZ, which is a language built for scientific diagrams & very much not for drawing. The original "Sparks of AGI" paper used the ability of the AI to draw a primitive unicorn as an example of unexpected AI abilities)

Gemini Deep Think Model Shows Superior 3D Interface Generation
By

Had early access to Gemini with Deep Think. Very good model, big gains over standard Gemini 2.5 Pro for a lot of problems.

Here is the first attempt at the starship control panel prompt I try with every model. First time I have seen a model make a 3D interface in response. https://t.co/8iW2Pn6Xpu pic.twitter.com/bLFF2IcOP3Had early access to Gemini with Deep Think. Horizon-alpha: Solid Performance on Multiple AI Tasks
By
–
Having played with it a bunch, Horizon-alpha did a pretty solid version of Missile Command with Relativistic Effects with a few rounds of feedback, passed the Lem Test the first time (without reasoning), and drew a passable TikZ unicorn (if you know, you know). Very quick model.

O*NET Dataset Reveals Real-World AI Use Patterns and Employment Impact

It also matches the results from Anthropic's analysis of actual use (though that user base is less broad than Copilot). Turns out O*NET is a very helpful dataset.

Dredge Operators Least Affected by Generative AI Impact
By

Dredge Operator is the job category least affected by Generative AI. Fortunately, I am very good at dredging. (In reality, there are only 940 dredge operators in the US)

AI Job Displacement Predictions Validated by Microsoft Study
By
–
Interestingly, an economics paper that came out in 2023 predicting which jobs would overlap most with AI turned out to be right. A new Microsoft study of actual AI use by workers (more on that in another post) found a 90% correlation between real world overlap & the predictions.

AI Leaders Report Signs of Self-Improvement in Systems
By
–
Lots of vague statements from leaders of the various AI labs about starting to see signs of self-improvement in AI systems (including Zuckerberg today), seems like proof that this is indeed happening would be pretty significant. (thanks o3 for providing details & saving me time)
