LiDAR and Vision Fusion Enhances Autonomous Vehicle Safety
By
–
Ideally one should use both together which is why Tesla & Musk reportedly started to incorporate LiDAR to some extent. Vision (CNNs) alone will make mistakes that in real-world will be price costly. Combing both will reduce risk. https://

Musk’s ego-driven decisions undermine Twitter and Tesla autonomy

Twitter will probably still be around after the weekend.

The good thing is this mess has shown the world who Musk really is.
Same ego was evident in AV attempts at Tesla w/o LiDAR (ignoring most experts & key staff): https://t.co/tXXAufYjKc https://t.co/APpu5ImkndTwitter will probably still be around after the weekend. Mastodon’s Decentralized Model: Economics Without Ads or VC Funding
By
–
That's the fascinating thing about Mastodon though: sure, having everyone join the same couple of suggested servers would improve the onboarding UX no end… but it would make those services prohibitively expensive to operate – and there are no ads and no VCs funding it

Search engines crawling Mastodon instances raises long-term concerns
By
–
It's not clear to me if that cultural preference is going to hold for the long run though, especially given search engines like Google already crawl Mastodon instances (though presumably they obey robots.txt)

Demystifying Technology: Encouragement and Accessibility for All

The message I was aiming for here was "I believe in you! You got this! If you figured out Twitter you can figure this thing out too! It's not nearly as complicated or intimidating as you might have been lead to believe" I'm really sorry how badly I failed to capture that

Mastodon UX Design: Decentralization Challenges and User Experience
By
–
I think the UX of Mastodon is extraordinarily good considering the difficulty of what it is trying to achieve It's always been 100x easier to design usable products if they are centralized. But centralized platforms can be bought and ruined even after you trust them for 16 years

Mastodon’s Decentralized Architecture Enables Single-User Instance Independence
By
–
That's a clever thing about how they've built Mastodon: it makes no difference at all to the vast majority of users if one instance became mainstream vs hundreds I'm running my own unique instance with just a single user – me – and all of the features I care about work just fine
