One understated factor is mental health. Academics are incredibly competitive. I've seen multiple people torn apart for years after, when they didn't get an award but others (comparable or less qualified) did. Silly? Yes. Real? Also yes. A broader problem in academia. 6/n

Suppose X and Y are considered for a prestigious award. They're comparable, but for whatever (arbitrary) reason, X gets it. Now if they're compared again, X is clearly "better," but for no good original reason. And then rich get richer. 4/n

Toujours une guerre de retard. Une démarche orientée vers l’avenir consisterait au contraire à préparer nos jeunes à interagir et s'interfacer avec les IA. Mieux vaut embrasser un mouvement inéluctable plutôt que le nier.
