It's dehumanizing to think that slavery should not be abolished because otherwise the slaves would not have jobs. It's dehumanizing to force people to drive other people around or operate a manual loom or to submit tax returns if the job can be done by machines.

Fun fact: before public education was introduced in the US in the 1800s, more than 98% of all kids went to school. Believe it or not, but even poor people can afford to education for their children.
