MLE spun out of the data science title in the past few years to describe a more software engineering-centric approach to machine learning concerned with model deployment, prod, and maintenance. In Q4 base salaries for MLE ranged around $175k, current openings are around $190k.

People saying AI will take 15, 20 years to replace jobs: lol. We are in the era of the internet where information asymmetry is low and cost of experimentation is low. ChatGPT userbase grew magnitudes faster than anything ever before.
