It's pretty obvious to me that whoever has the distribution and compute wins. Distribution allows you to acquire customers at zero and compute allows you to discount beyond other providers. Model/data is not a moat. If you build something good people will train on your outputs.

GenAI Desktop Apps: Free Models With Feature-Based Monetization
By
–
Have a wild theory. I think more GenAI products will be desktop apps and be free or near free to use. We’re making inference possible on shit devices and it makes no sense to charge a user $20 when you can charge them only for feature unlock. Adobe style.

Don’t believe the AI hype: Needham downgrades Applied, ACLS, etc. Even if Nvidia’s incremental chip demand for AI doubled, it would’t drive a lot more wafers to be manufactured at Taiwan Semi. https://

OpenAI’s Pricing Strategy: Cost, Lock-in, and Market Implications

It of courses raises a ton of questions. How can OpenAI do this in the first place, and why now? Do they sell it at cost (or at a small loss) to keep people locked into the OpenAI ecosystem? Etc. etc. etc.

AI Pricing Wars: Major Price Cuts Strategy Explained
By
–
So, if you can't win on quality, you do the next best thing: win on price. It's one of the most aggressive price cuts we've seen as far as AI products go so far. And a devs I've spoke with have hoped for big price cut like this—from OpenAI or someone else.
