Federation Exceeds Expectations Despite Usability Challenges
By
–
I think one reason I'm so impressed is that I understand how much of a negative impact federation has on usability (a reason I didn't think it would work and never signed up before) and as a result it's wildly exceeding my low expectations

Mastodon App Sees User Return and Significant Improvements
By
–

Mastodon API reveals follower activity timestamps via toot history
By
–
I actually think it IS possible to figure that out on Mastodon – there's an API that returns a list of your followers that includes their last_status_at timestamp (so not their last browse activity, but last time they tooted) https://

Mastodon Privacy: No Analytics Tracking Implementation
By
–
There is genuinely no way of telling – Mastodon not only avoids implementing those kinds of analytics, it puts rel="noreferrer" on links so external analytics tools can't see it either
