We saw xz go down. And heartbleed. So ofc I'm not saying that. I'm saying I read this as a muddled story meant to cast doubt in an interview where Durov (falsely) flexes Telegram's privacy virtues. As for US Big Tech, IIUC Telegram uses AWS and GCP (probably others).

This is cope from a guy on a fundraising tour who knows targeting ACTUALLY private apps would make Telegram look bad (Telegram has horrible privacy–offering an opt-in setting only for 1:1 conversations) so instead of saying it w his chest he sows doubt via innuendo. IMHO.

While prompt injection remains unsolved, for this particular issue there is a known mitigation: don't ever support markdown (or HTML) images that load images from domains you do not control! More painful but also necessary: don't support outbound clickable links either
