Yea, it doesn’t matter if they “legally” moved their HQ to Singapore and cut ties with China before the acquisition. Also doesn’t matter if they were based in Singapore. The Chinese government summoned them back for questioning and hit them with an exit ban.

Trump’s PCAST lacks diversity, dominated by tech industry interests
By
–

Looking at the newly announced PCAST, a few things stand out: — This group is heavily concentrated in AI and adjacent emerging tech like AI, crypto, semiconductor exports, data centers, etc. It’s also just 2 women and 11 men. — Most members have clear financial interests in the policy outcomes they’ll be advising on. Many are also very friendly to the administration and against regulation. — Members’ companies are among the most prominent tech firms to be targeted with future regulations. — By comparison, PCASTs under Obama and Biden were generally filled with academics, research scientists, university leaders, physicians, and others alongside some corporate execs. Manus was founded by Chinese engineers who relocated HQ from China to Singapore in 2025, then sold to Meta. They were summoned back to Beijing and hit with exit bans. Not a good signal for other Chinese founders and tech talent overseas with same aspirations.

I love to dunk on Apple, and Siri in particular, as much as the next guy, but I absolutely admire and respect the level of *consistent* quality and improvements that they’ve been able to pull off over the course of several decades. Absolutely unheard of in the tech world. They

AI Royalty: Risk of European Competitiveness Loss
By
–
Arthur Mensch proposes a royalty on AI actors to compensate creators and secure model training in Europe. Understandable intention. But you don't become competitive by making AI more expensive. The real risk is encouraging dominant players to cut off our access. [Translated from EN to English]
