If you have arguments that may support intractability of search for global optimum, in the sense of preventing formation of ethical singleton, I'd like to hear them.

Even if there is an optimal strategy, we cannot prove that we are destined to become part of the Omega point; earth might be just a food reservoir that gets harvested by something much bigger, and our ethical aspirations are for naught.

Wrt tractability, I am not sure whether we can hope there is an optimal strategy, either because it represents a global optimum, or because it is whatever results from a search strategy that cannot be improved on given the resource conditions in our region of the universe.
