Lighter Mastodon alternatives for serverless self-hosting
By
–
Mastodon itself is a bit too heavy for my liking – PostgreSQL and Redis and Sidekiq and Ruby – I'm excited to see more work going into lighter alternatives that are optimized for inexpensive (ideally serverless) self-hosting

Mastodon maturity addresses decentralized social network challenges effectively
By
–
The reason I'm optimistic about Mastodon is that they very clearly understand the challenges involved in running software this way, and have spent the past 6 years plucking away at them It's not perfect, but I think it's now Good Enough, especially for this unique moment

Local Server Infrastructure Challenges in Decentralized Networks
By

By "local server" I mean the instance that you host your account on – each instance has to do a ton of work to sync up with what's happening everywhere else
