Technology is different. Woz showed me his first color printer. Cost $45,000. Today a $70 printer is way way better. None of the products you listed come down in cost rapidly. None. That's what you don't get because of your very obvious bias.

Technology Adoption Inequality: From Apple II to Modern Devices
By
–
My dad bought an Apple II. It cost a LOT more than this device. And did FAR less. It launched the world's richest company. I study how people adopt technology. The poor never lead. Sorry to be so blunt.

Technology adoption follows wealth: poor access comes later

Technology revolutions always start with the money. Not with the poor. The poor will show up someday long after the first glasses appear and the costs come way down. And they will monetize at a far lower rate. And never bring the cool shit.

Meta’s AR Headset Adoption Challenge Amid Smartphone Competition
By
–
The thing is, everyone has a phone that already can do augmented reality. So, Meta still has a tough time to convince people to lay down $500 bones for a headset that most people haven't even considered buying yet. Plus, every kid will want to try the new Disneyland in it.

Display Resolution Limitations: VR Headsets vs High-End TVs
By
–
I can't. I must read and interact with TweetDeck and, sorry, the displays simply do not have the resolution I demand. But then I have an $8,000 83-inch Sony TV to use too and it completely outclasses the Quest.

Apple’s Vision: Lightweight AR Glasses Within Four Years

Tim Cook doesn't disagree. Within 18 months we will see a more capable, lighter, and lower cost headset. Within 48 months we will see a lightweight pair of glasses from Apple that are affordable for masses.
