The Quest is build around a phone while the Vision Pro is built around a Macbook. The hardware is more capable (and needs quite a bit more power). The Quest cannot draw enough polygons for a good flight simulator, while the Vision Pro should have no trouble.

Scientific expertise and the limits of interdisciplinary opinion
By
–
There are precedents, and I think that normie science deals by treating the scientific project as arbitrated by local majority. The lesson learned will be to never have opinions outside one's own field of expertise.

Expert deference risks when entire expert clusters become compromised
By

Most experts really believe in deferring to experts, which leads to weird effects when an entire cluster of experts is compromised

Viral Technology Risks: Vaccines, Eradication, and State Security
By
–
The same technologies that are used for creating the virus can be used to create vaccines, but many viruses (eg flu) cannot be eradicated by vaccines, and the risk to every population and economy is too high to allow intentional release of dangerous viruses by state actors.

Apple Quest VR Headset: Impressive Tech, Missing Killer App
By
–
The Apple Quest is well executed and the tech is truly impressive. No more screen door effect! I felt the weight of the headset and eye strain when using it for a few hours, and I did not yet encounter a killer app while using it. But I am glad that Apple joins Meta to build VR.

Apple 3D Tracking Enables Real-World Tool Integration for Creative Apps
By
–
I don't know the resolution limits of Apple's 3D tracking, but it seems to be extremely fast and high fidelity. Perhaps we can write apps that allow us to grab real world tools (such as brushes and toy guns) and use them to draw on surfaces and in space, or to play games?

Apple Quest 3D Camera Falls Short for Content Creators
By
–
The Apple Quest can record 3D video, but I wish the cameras were better, because this could have been an amazing tool for 3D content creators. Apple missed a big market here! Spending 4000 USD on an immersive 180° 3D camera is justifiable to filmmakers and many Youtubers.

Apple Quest VR Headset: Display, Integration, and Feature Gaps
By
–
Just spent the afternoon with the new Apple Quest. Amazing display (but heavy) and the interface is slick (although mostly familiar from the original Quest). Passthrough is impressive. It integrates with the Mac, but lacks native apps, and no Youtube 3D.

Observer Perspective Limits in Simulated Universes
By
–
Perspectives of observers are limited by the ways in which observers can be implemented. Eg. you exist in a multi way universe, you don’t know which path you are in. If you exist in a single thread universe, you don’t know what the simulator is up to.

Building Genuine Self-Transformative Intentional AI Artists

It is possible to build a genuine self transformative, intentional AI artist, but I don’t think anyone has done it so far
