Looks like @OpenAI has added an even MORE powerful version of Pro mode… you can now ask GPT-5.2 Pro to think even longer than before. Starting to test this… I have high expectations here.

AI Companies Balance Pre-training and Post-training Strategies
By
–
To be clear (getting a lot of confused comments), I obviously don't mean that any of these companies are solely focused on one thing. OAI/Anthropic/Google all focus on both pre-training and post-training (obv there are stages within those, just simplifying here). But it feels

OpenAI’s Post-Training vs Google Anthropic Pre-Training Capabilities

Yep, I just mean that it *feels* (could be very, very wrong) like OAI has much better post-training, Google/Anthropic have much better pre-training

Pre-training vs Post-training: Google Anthropic OpenAI Strategy Comparison
By

It all makes sense. Google + Anthropic focused on pre-training, so you get to a great answer quicker, but the capability ceiling is lower. OpenAI focused on post-training, so great answers take longer, but you can push the models much further.

OpenAI Instant vs Claude Opus: Performance Comparison Analysis
By
–
I personally don’t like Instant. If OpenAI was still the only game in town, it would have a place in my lineup, purely because the Thinking variant is so slow and sometimes I do need a quick answer. But Opus is just far better than Instant when I want something quick.

GPT-5.2 Thinking vs Pro Model Review Comparison

My review for GPT-5.2 Thinking (not Pro) was not as positive. Pro, however, is an amazing model, which is why I say so.

GPT-5.2 Thinking vs Opus Pro: Model Comparison and Daily Usage
By
–
Please read the content of the review. I make it clear that GPT-5.2 Thinking is an incredible model, but I barely use it day-to-day, as Opus + Pro fit what I need much better, and speed lines up.

GPT-5.2 Thinking vs Gemini: Performance Comparison
By

GPT-5.2 Thinking is the overall winner, but Gemini is better at UI styling and other small things If you have a task you will do repeatedly, it's best to try them both for it

AI Models Code Generation Quality Less Critical as Capabilities Improve
By
–
1) that's not what I mean… it's just willing to work for longer without stopping, writing more of the system I want it to 2) code quality is going to matter less and less as models get better

Mixed Feelings About AI: Engagement Over Ignorance
By

To be clear, I love AI, but I do have mixed feelings about this all, personally. But ignoring it is not the answer, and will help no one.
